Relay Express is a 24/7 same day transportation company with multiple locations throughout the Midwest. This individual will be responsible for identifying capacity through pre-checks, assigning both scheduled and on-demand runs, while maintaining clear on-time directives with the drivers and clear updated communication with customers. This individual should have great interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with customers, ICs, and fellow team members. This position requires experience with multi-line phones, computer proficiency including Word and Excel, and possess a winning solution-based attitude. Duties and Responsibilities: Understand the various details and expectations of each unique customer’s need during overnights including but not limited too: Critical Parts, Medical routes, Linehauls and Cross-dock at other locations Develop a strong geographic understanding of Relay Express’ operating markets, as well as the mix of business in each location and the overnight driver fleets. Constantly verify the status of the capacity in your driver fleets to understand your coverage options prior to orders coming into the system, not reacting to orders as they are placed. Pre-checks performed and recorded per Next Day planning Complete driver pre-check calls two hours prior to stated report time to confirm understanding and availability. Notify leadership of any issues related to pre-check coverage issues. Collaboration on solutions. Dispatch orders in real-time to the best contractor resource based on the customer’s specific parameters, including but not limited to: Desired pickup and delivery time constraints. Volume and dimensions of the product/freight to be moved. Communication and verification of Customer Specific Needs such as signed BOLs Track and trace drivers proactively throughout the shift using GPS and dispatch tools and maintaining phone contact at specified intervals to ensure on time pickup and delivery. Log notes inside order tickets to create a detailed narrative of any discussion with the driver or customer. Record ETA’s, delays, or reason for communication with the customer. Enter detailed information for arrival and departure times, bill of lading and freight counts and proof of delivery information in orders in real-time as they are completed. Prepare shift report daily throughout your shift. Exhibit a commitment to Safety including use of ELD software to ensure FMCSR compliance where needed, when applicable. Pull parts for all outgoing orders as needed in the Fairfield office, including Ex: correct quantity, contact names, part numbers, serial numbers, and return packs, etc. Process, sort, and file driver paperwork per SOP nightly. Attend weekly meeting with Management for review of Key Performance Indicators, Staffing performance, and routine maintenance of CXT items regarding scheduling. Meetings: Maintain professional attire, language, and business demeanor in all dealings with customers, employees, and vendors. Experience and skill requirements: Experience in fast-paced dispatch, customer service and phone centers. Ability to multi-task through phone communications and real-time software-based tracking and dispatch systems. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office proficiency and the ability to become an expert in the company’s dispatch platform. Desire to work independently and proactively to support the overall team Dispatch Operations goals. Strong communication skills and the ability to develop positive relationships with the driver fleet. Professional image and communication skills. Ability to adapt to changing customer needs and driver availability. Ability to manage multiple factors in a high stress environment. Benefits and Compensation: Pay range: $20.00-$22.00 per hour based on third shift experience Shift: 22:00-8:00 Medical Benefits after 60 days.
